Bass
Thinking about trying out some flatwounds and wanted to hear some recommendations. I don’t really want a set that’s too dark sonically since I’m still playing rock music mostly.
I started off playing guitar for a while, but after hearing the bass line for the song Big Empty by Stone Temple Pilots, I was completely mind-blown and had to learn how to play that. Never looked back!
I think I would get something from the G&L custom shop. I love the look of Kiloton 5 string but I don't know if I like the pickup placement. I also would check out a Lakland Joe Osborn 5.
For me I usually prefer to have a drum track laid out so I can really try and nail the groove. A click isn't something I really care for, but it is nice to have in the background. Most recently, I ended up recording the bass *before* the drummer laid his tracks and I only had the guitar part and a click to go off of. The end product just sounds...messy. I think that we did this backwards, but what do you guys think is the best "order" when it comes to recording bass?
Has anyone tried this pedal? Color me intrigued
For me, once I get a drum beat and know what notes the guitarist is playing I just sorta noodle around on the scale or arpeggio until I get something that sounds good. Maybe I'll spend some time refining it on my own. What about you guys? Is there a certain process you follow?
Anyone have recommendations for essential pedals for a bassist? Besides a tuner, of course. I was thinking about adding a compressor, but wondered how essential those were
Hey all, I'm new to Lemmy. I play bass guitar myself and while there already is a guitars community on Lemmy.world, I thought it'd be nice to have a more specific community for bassists. Hope this can be a place where we learn and discover things together!
