We have some bad news. I've had to rollback to the the 9th. We are running out of disk space and I tried all kind of things to free up space, and they all are not working. The best I can do is remove certain communities and try and prune when I can, but I don't know what to do at this point. The only way is to I guess upgrade space, but I don't know how long that will last. I'd like some thoughts about it, I guess.
So trying to diagnose the issue, it seems there are spam spikes from outside of our server, but in trying to federate with these events, it starts running our CPU of the server at 100% and errors out. When I restart it during that, it seems to have issues and I have to rollback. Thankfully, we had a rollback from last night this time, but for now that means I will be removing the largest non-art communities that would get spammed, such as memes, news, and politics from the large big servers. This means that this instance will probably be more useful just for art only for the time being. Many mobile clients allow you to login to multiple accounts on different servers, so you may need to do that to get better access to non-niche content. There will be an eventual lemmy update that will create a federation queue that addresses this, but for now, we have to work with what we have.
I've hit some kind of roadblock with not being able to update things because the server itself is running out of space, causing me being unable to update things. So for this reason I rolled back the server, losing some recent posts. As such, I will be banning and purging history of some of the biggest and most active meme subs. I do not wish to limit your access to these subs, I enjoy them too, but I feel it's more important to be able to browse our art sections rather than meme things, where you could try a different account on a bigger and more supported instance. It is also now time that I will have to pay for the servers, the free account trial has run out. I should be able to cover it, but if you'd like to help out, there is always my [ko-fi](https://ko-fi.com/misnina) should you choose! The cost of a month of the server is only $10 with backups, so not much is needed.

**Welcome!**    Here’s a little home that I hope streamers, vtubers, artists, and all who enjoy these things can have a nice time away from a big instance. This site will grow based on how the first of ya’ll here respond to everything I’ve setup. I will admit though, all these interests are purely based on my ([Nina's](https://crystals.rest/u/misnina)) preferences. *everyone thank [@Zetaphor@zemmy.cc](https://crystals.rest/u/Zetaphor@zemmy.cc) for helping to get the server's 3rd attempt to be finally and properly set up!!!* #### **How do I use this site?** This site is running something called Lemmy, which is a link aggregator with forum style comments, like Reddit. The *'Local'* tab is everything specifically from this site,  **crystals.rest**. At the bottom of this post is all of the basic communities *(like subreddits)* we have. It's a place for discussions or sharing of things that are part of these themed topic pages. **This is not all there is though.** You can click the *'Communities'* nav link on top and sort to *'All'* to list different communities from all over lemmy and kbin, which we do by searching and subscribing to their individual communities. If you find a link to a community that is not yet discovered by us, click the **search icon** up top and enter in that url. It will say no results found, but if you give it a minute, that should go away, and then searching it's name/checking the communities tab will have it there to be able to subscribe too. You can comment there, as we are talking to their site, and they can comment here! **This means that it's very important to report users who are acting maliciously**. Report and then feel free to ping [Nina](https://crystals.rest/u/misnina) on discord or matrix. **Remember to read the sidebar of each community!** #### **Going Forward** The current plan is to start out with a small subset of basic communities relevant to our topics and then branching out from there. **I will be keeping creating new communities open**, but *please* put a little thought into them before you create them, and see if there are alternates we could federate with instead. Currently I am the head mod of all of these communities, but that’s not entirely the plan.
