YSK: Wii models that don't feature a GameCube controller slot can still play GameCube games with Nintendont and a USB controller

This is something I found out late last year with my black Family Edition Wii (RVL-101) but it can also be done on the Wii mini (RVL-201). I thought I'd share it here in case someone had one of these models and didn't know. The modding process for the Wii mini is a bit more involved but is possible thanks to [BlueBomb](https://wiibrew.org/wiki/Bluebomb). The Family Edition Wii can be modded easily using [BannerBomb](https://wiibrew.org/wiki/LetterBomb). After that you just need to [install Nintendont](https://www.gamebrew.org/wiki/Nintendont_Wii) and you should be able to use Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Switch Pro, and several other kinds of controllers to play GameCube games. --- [This](https://leminal.space/post/4023156) post on !retrogaming@lemmy.world titled *Playing GameCube classics, but in 4K on a Mac with PlayStation controllers, just as Nintendo intended.* was what reminded me of this. Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 freeze in USB Loader GX

I have a problem with Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. After I collect a certain number of stars the game freezes and when I open it again that star isn't saved. After some internet search I changed language to english and video to NTSC but only difference is that higher amount of stars is needed in order for a game to freeze. After that I tried changing video to PAL but that didn't work. I couldn't find anyone who had the same problem. Is there any way to fix this?
