So true. An then there are the hybrid SUVs or the various SUV type electric vehicles. Those make absolutely zero sense! But the owner might rest his conscience on the fact that he/she/whatever owns a hybrid or an electric car and therefore it's totally environment-friendly.

It was nameless for a long time, but I wanted to keep with the fediverse tradition of naming projects after animals. I was playing that old-school game Lemmings, and Lemmy (from motorhead) had passed away that week, and we held a few polls for names, and I went with that.

Sounds good! Next step: Moving the whole thing to a Kubernetes cluster to provide dynamic scaling. By the way, do you use Docker or Docker Swarm? Slightly relevant: Container Hosting on Stuxhost, when? :-)

Absolutely. Although it's not that extreme, this tendency can be observed in Europe too. Ford announced to stop the production of the Fiesta, whereas the F-150 will be available in the near future.

Thank you, I added it to the resources. Didn't know that one before! That's a very detailed and extensive introduction.
Of course there needs to be a Kurrent community here on Lemmy, although it's still very small currently. The topic is quite niche, but I hope that it may gain some attention through genealogy or maybe findings in the estates of relatives. Or maybe just people interested in calligraphy and handwriting.
However, feel free to spread the word and thanks again for your contribution! It's much appreciated.

Update: Seems as if it's at leasting improving now. I can't see all of the comments, but much more than before. I've got to wait for the workers to "complete" their work, I guess. Thanks again!

In diesem Sinne: Auf gute Nachbarschaft.

Thanks a lot! I'll keep an eye (or two) on it 👀
During the last few days I stumbled accross mulitple links to Lemmy subs or specific threads from other Lemmy instances where I was able to read comments although I wasn't logged in, since I don't have an account there. But when I try to lookup the same subs/instances via our beloved instance Geddit, it says that there are no comments, although I'm able to see the initial posting. Did anyone here experience something similar?
It would be interesting to know if this hole (doesn't look too big actually?) affects the statics of the bridge.
![](https://geddit.social/pictrs/image/7e7f6e4a-4422-4b80-ad33-a25482cb9136.jpeg) Although the writing is pretty neat, I'm having some difficulties with the last word. Any ideas? Might be a first name, maybe something like "Dora"?

Lauf, Donnersdachs, lauf!

Not sure of this is the right place, but here we go: Which client apps for Lemmy do you use on your, preferrably Android, smartphones? I'm currently having a look at Jerboa, which seems to be quite mature.
Looks as if they've finally decided to release more of the western equipment into the wild.
The first steps are the most difficult ones. As with every writing, you might want to learn the alphabet at first. But even if you know all the letters, you might find it difficult to identify them in a given scripture. Especially with Kurrent it's necessary to practice to read texts to get used to different styles of handwritings and the various peculiarities dependent on the specific writer or the time of writing. At the beginning it might be difficult to read a text without knowing about its content (or context), but there are lots of resources online. Both already transcribed texts and, nowadays, even interactive exercises. To get started you might want to have a look at the following resources. Please note that this list is neither ordered nor comprehensive. ### Introduction - [Übung Kurrentschrift (theory + exercises, german)](https://gonline.univie.ac.at/erste-schritte-in-kurrent/lese-und-schreibuebungen/) - [Ad fontes (theory + interactive exercises, english)](https://www.adfontes.uzh.ch/en/tutorium/schriften-lesen/schriftgeschichte/deutsche-kurrentschrift) - [A guide to Writing the old German "Kurrent" Script by Margarete Mücke (english)](https://www.kurrent-lernen-muecke.de/pdf/Schreiblehrgang%20Kurrentschrift%20%202016-english.pdf) - [Altdeutsche Schrift (Kurrent, Sütterlin) lernen, kompletter Online-Kurs (video guide, german)](https://youtu.be/1AgE_4P0cSs) ### Further reading - [Anmerkungen zur Entzifferung der Deutschen Kurrentschrift im Allgemeinen und bei Friedrich Schlegel im Besonderen (german)](https://pressto.amu.edu.pl/index.php/sgp/article/view/2614/2596) ### Tools - [Transkribus](https://readcoop.eu/transkribus/) If you know any other resources, that might be interesting, please share them here.
