    Is breastmilk vegan?
  • Bluu Bluu 12mo ago 100%

I think the point of veganism is to reduce harm and exploitation. Is the person willingly giving milk in the situation? Are they being exploited in any way related to the milk? If no, then it’s vegan.

The same question could be raised for other human products - like human hair wigs. If the person happily donated the hair, then I’d consider it vegan.

I’m On Observation Duty 6. Who knew spending hours looking at still images would be so fun and unsettling.

  • How often do you read fiction and how do you manage to do it?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

Most of what I read is fiction. A few years ago I realized I had stopped reading for fun and decided to try and get back into it. At first my goal was 12 books in a year. Then each year I would try and beat my previous number. I kept a log of what I read.

As others have mentioned, audiobooks have been great. I usually listen to them while I’m doing stuff around the house. Checking out ebooks from the library also keeps me going because of the time limit. I try to get through them before they need to be renewed or returned. I guess it has helped me to turn reading into a bit of a game.

Subnautica Below Zero. Been working my way through and enjoying it. I don’t think it has matched the intensity of the first one, but I’m liking the new mechanics and story so far.

  • American vegans, where do you buy your food to save money?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

I go to the same grocery store now as I did before I went vegan. I feel like the best way to save money is to buy fruit and veg that are in season and to only use heavily processed meat substitutes as a treat instead of an everyday thing. Beans, lentils, and even tofu are pretty cheap.

Also, if you have the resources and space, growing veg and herbs from seed can save money and make meals tastier.

Love Triforce. It’s one of the few that I actually manage to keep up do date on.

  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

Looking back, I think I’m glad I played through the base game first and then went back for the dlc. I’d probably suggest doing the same.

ToTK and Subnautica for me. Probably also some Roots of Patcha. I’m hopelessly addicted to caveman Harvest Moon.

  • What are some great hobbies for an introvert?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

Gardening is a great introvert hobby. It gets me outside in the sun and sometimes I run into neighbors, so I can keep up with the people around me without having to commit to any big social event. I have a flower garden in the front, so not only is it a hobby, but it also makes my house look nice. Then in the back I grow vegetable and herbs, so we get lots of delicious veggies out of it too.

I also love checking out books from my library app and spending an afternoon reading with a cup of tea. It’s also free!

  • Kbin: What is your all time favourite video game?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

I’m playing Subnautica for the first time right now, after hearing it was similar to Outer Wilds. I’m discovering I have a much bigger fear of vast open water than I do for space!

Outer Wilds was such an awesome experience. I listen to the soundtrack sometimes and the emotions rush back, especially a few songs from the DLC.

  • How many of you are still working full-time remote and how is it going? If not, why not? Was the decision made by you to go back to the office or did your employer decide for you?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

I'm fully remote now. During covid I was working somewhere else. They forced everyone to go back to a hybrid model, where we were expected to share small workspaces with three or four other coworkers with a rotating schedule. There was no reason for someone in my position to be in the office. It was not ideal. After a few weeks I ended up putting in my notice and found another fully remote position. It's wonderful. I love working from home.

  • How do y'all feel about writing things by hand?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

I keep a physical journal and often do free writing just to get thoughts and ideas out. I usually write in cursive and can’t even read it myself afterwards. For me, the act of taking the time to physically write things down is really helpful to process. I almost never return to what I’ve previously written down, but it feels great to get it out. Brains can be weird.

  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

For sure. I can’t remember the last time I actually posted or commented on reddit. I would do that thing where sometimes I’d even start to type a reply and then just trash it before posting. Here, I actually feel like contributing.

  • it's Friday night, what's everyone doing this weekend?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

That’s really cool. Tried to do something similar with my partner, but we didn’t end up sticking with it. We tend to have different reading habits. I like to read one book at a time and he always has a few he’s actively working through. The timing was just always off.

There’s an art festival I’m planning to go to tomorrow. It’s horror, occult, and oddities type of stuff, so it should be fun. Then maybe hanging out with a friend visiting from out of town.

  • What is your favorite space game?
  • Bluu Bluu 1y ago 100%

It’s so good! My suggestion is to try and avoid looking anything up or reading too much about the game beforehand. The magic is really in exploring and discovering things as you go. Beautiful game :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’ve journaled on and off ever since I was a kid. When I feel myself struggling, I tend to jump back into it. It really helps!

Outer Wilds! It's the game I suggest to anyone who enjoys exploration and puzzles. The story unravels slowly as you piece together clues. The solar system is so fun, with each planet having unique mechanics. One of my absolute favorites!

  • My neighbor has a groundhog living under their porch. They don’t seem to mind and neither did I, until I found one of my tomato plants had been eaten. I’m 99% sure it was him because I’ve seen him hanging out in my driveway. Most of my garden is fenced in, so that should help, but I have a couple tomato plants in large planters that I’m now worried about. I sprinkled some peppermint oil around the planters because I read that might help. I have a cat, and read used kitty litter may scare it away… but that seems a little gross tbh. Anyone have any hog-repelling secrets?
