My workplace for some reason wants 20 years of IT manager experience for dev jobs, and many of the incompetent higher-ups were promoted from IT despite having no experience, especially outside experience from any other company, which is why they make the stupidest decisions. Management is also equally incompetent. The particular software team that handles patches is led by a shitty manager that creates a terrible culture that seems to make even decent people become incompetent, like some brain worm. I worked with another contractor in my team that was hired for IT Networking with literally no experience. I haven't had the same luck, probably because I don't fit in with their culture.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing the opposite effect. I am an IT contractor tasked with writing scripts, and I keep applying for dev and IT jobs with a 2 year degree with no success for the past few years while I see old dinosaur fucks at my job not even knowing what functions are. They use ChatGPT to write scripts for them without any modifications to work with our specific clusterfuck of an environment that they created, and the scripts are broken and run in production because we don't even have a testing environment. Meanwhile I have to clean their mess and get paid much less than them, let alone not have any PTO or benefits. It's absolutely maddening to be moderately skilled in programming and witnessing some of the dumbest people on the planet get CS jobs through nepotism or impressing HR, moreso the former. It seems like my workplace will only hire someone if and only if they are incredibly incompetent.
And now the team of fucking morons are taking care of packaging, so the one thing in my job that gave me control to fix things and helped with my sanity is being stripped away from me, which means I get to image laptops unsuccessfully because their scripts will not work. I might as well bring a personal laptop to work and practice programming since I am going to be sitting around waiting shit to get fixed for weeks at a time. Can't wait to get the fuck out of the IT field and pursue electrical engineering someday. I'm not wasting 10-20 years of my life just to get a single promotion in a field dominated by cop-worshipping, white supremacist libertarians.
Wish I could use a real programming language in a sane environment where I am hired to actually be a developer and not an IT person with 3 odd jobs that don't help me build any transferrable experience and get paid for less than one for once.
Honestly, how is it possible to unionize white-ass techbros and old techfucks when they don't hold themselves accountable, work against each other, refuse to keep up to date in their field or learning anything new, and scream fire for non-issues so that other teams have to struggle, let alone most of techbros being against unions or anything remotely left of Hitler?

Curious if there's an up to date Minecraft server written in some Lisp dialect. I only see old ones written 5-10 years ago. Seems like a fun project to try.

Yeah world gen is one of the most difficult parts to implement since Minecraft and Mojang are very protective of that area, not to mention the monumental task of maintaining bug compatibility, especially with redstone. It's still interesting to see parts of Minecraft being implemented in other languages.
[FerrumC](https://github.com/ferrumc-rs/ferrumc), similar to [Pumpkin](https://github.com/Snowiiii/Pumpkin), which I recently [posted](https://hexbear.net/post/3696178) today, is yet another Minecraft server built in Rust that released a month ago. Funny that there's already an inside joke regarding new Rust Minecraft servers being released close to the pace of [JavaScript frameworks](https://dayssincelastjsframework.com/).

I am curious about the reasoning the people had for saying culture or diplomacy is the primary force for achieving China's foreign policy goals over economy. I understand they have made an impact, but it's interesting to declare it as a primary force among the other options. Maybe there's bias given the work they do or the interests they have?

You can get a shirt of the post image, btw: https://spacedoglaika.com/collections/refinished-propaganda/products/knowledge-will-break-the-chains-of-slavery-refinished-soviet-literacy-propaganda-ussr-communist-t-shirt
I'm just mentioning it because I have been wanting this shirt, which is why this post caught my eye.
To be more relevant to the post, I do want to mention that I have been struggling with time management and burnout, but for the past month or so, I have been learning to play the guitar, and it's really helped my mood and focus as it's an easy thing to start doing with little energy. I practice guitar while I am waiting for my ADHD meds to kick in during the weekend, and it helps me feel more motivated when they do. I've learned 4 chords (sort of), and I tend to practice a riff with 3. I think forcing myself to play slower has a positive effect on slowing down my mind's racing thoughts. I also play guitar sometimes at night after work, and the mental roadblock for me to start tuning and playing is much lower than it is to hype myself to play a video game or work on a computer project.
I aspire to be skilled enough at guitar to casually sing and play commie songs.

I recently tried to repair my mom's phone's screen and was struggling to remove the battery that was glued to the phone, and I accidentally stabbed it and caused a fire. I took the brunt of inhaling toxic fumes before I could open the window. It was hard to breathe for weeks, on top of being sick.
I'm crossing my fingers that we see this technology applied to many electronics within our lifetime. Batteries are a pain sometimes.

Damn, the kids today, especially the elementary and middle schoolers, are pretty based.

Oh I'm not disagreeing, my only argument was regarding whether the community should include multiple conlangs or just Esperanto and maybe allow other conlang posts in the community, considering the current structure and style of hexbear's communities.
Imnecomrade 2w ago • 100%
I don't think I see any specific language as a community on hexbear, thus I figured a conlang community could serve the Esperanto community and pull the fictional conlangs from worldbuilding into a more relevant community, though I figured the conlang community would serve more real-world conlangs, such as the ones listed here, specifically the auxiliary and engineered constructed languages. I wouldn't be against a separate hexbear community for Esperanto or any other language, but I figured there may be a reason for the limited generalized communities.
I find the language Lidepla interesting as it includes more language sources beyond the romantic languages, though it's request to obtain an ISO 639-3 code from the International Organization of Standardization was denied because it's still too niche. I would consider this as an example that would belong in a conlang community.

What about /c/conlang for multiple constructed languages? We already have the general !languagelearning@hexbear.net community.
I'm posting this version thanks to [this comment](https://hexbear.net/comment/5455738) as it doesn't equate Hamas with Fascists.

Wow, I'm 11 days late to knowing this song released, it's only because I saw the lyric video posted on Lemmygrad.ml that I even learned about it. This song was too spicy for YouTube. Now I'm subscribed to the Macklemore channel so I don't miss any bangers.
cross-posted from: https://lemmygrad.ml/post/5821129 > I never heard this song before I listened to this album. This is my favorite song in the album besides the Soviet Anthem.

Fun fact: this song (Harry101UK's version) was supposed to be an Easter egg in Portal 2 but was cut.
Honestly mostly what I hoped Civ VII would be. Not sure I like the prestige elimination mechanic.

I like to imagine the person is just complimenting their strong mothers, aunts, sisters, etc. Obviously they deserve the right tool for the job, not some chintzy product that is colored pink. So many companies, which once made reliable products, no longer make anything worth the paper money needed to purchase them. Plus it's a flashlight, less features means less ways to break, so it really needs one or two buttons. Some of the best tools are simple. At least the person didn't use feeeemale as a noun.
Probably a chud, though, but I like to give the benefit of the doubt.
