I have an Nvidia GPU, should I get an Intel or AMD CPU?

As others said, both work just fine with any GPU and Intel had serious issues lately with crashes. I'd say go with AMD unless you want higher power usage as Intel chips fare worse when it comes to perf/watt metrics. That said Intel CPUs might have an advantage at single threaded loads, but again, at much higher power use. AMD also tends to keep CPU sockets for longer thus less motherboard changes are required if you upgrade the CPU. You might also consider reading reviews on serious technical websites as it might give you inside into what performance and prices to expect.

Update: On more (implicitly expressed consequence) - due to Intel's much higher power requirements, they are more difficult to cool down - more expensive (air) coolers and quite possibly water cooling required.

Nothing new that China supports Russia and that the West is trying to leverage this against China because of economic and political competition. Yeah, it's not about justice or anything like that, it's just Western interests. Nothing else.

Mostly agree with what others said, it's fine for me.

Perhaps just a subjective opinion that isn't bound to technology - I find moderators much more trigger happy when it comes to deletion and even banning.

After scrapping nuclear reactors, Germany to spend billions on new gas power plants

€16bn buys you roughly half of a 1GW nuclear reactor these days

Not necessarily. Slovenia is planning to get 1,6GW of power for that money. They included current experience (Hinkley and others) in account - but who knows.

When one looks at current state, Germany is pretty much on pollution side while France is always on the green side. Renewables can get you so far but at the same time force you to cover their power with gas/coal based power plants when sun isn't shinning and wind isn't blowing. Both of them are still generating plenty of CO2. Bottom line is that unless Germany comes out with plenty more of co2 free renewables and a huge energy storages (specially this is the problem, you can slap more solar panels easily), it will still emit plenty of CO2 no matter what.

Mobility is not electrified enough and there’s not enough public transit. Heating is not electrified enough.

Yea, but not really. Heating is mostly used during winter when sun isn't as its best. And cars are mostly being charged during the night, when sun isn't shinning either. Perhaps if hydro and wind were enough, but I doubt it they can power such at scale energy demand. OTOH if there were nuclear energy backed, then yes.

I'd understand the thread as author intended. Just my 5 cents. And honestly, it's time to talk openly about it, even though the thread could diverge - in that case, weed the offensive comments, not censor beforehand.

  • I was always wondering this. Imagine a steep descent. What is better for brake wear - braking constantly or more powerful just at the end? Anybody knows? Goes for both rim and disc brakes

I'm considering Fiido Titan as e-bike for shopping and short distance commuting. It's hilly where I need it. Any thoughts on bike quality or anything else? From a review on YouTube it seems decent enough. TIA

Hopeful Jonas recovered after all the injuries, but I somehow doubt it that he'll be at 100% after *those* injuries without much time to recover. While I'm rooting for PogRog, I fear a repeat of Giro, where Pog dominated and made it boring to watch. Or perhaps Remco will kick in, but then again he was also injured and didn't do well at Dauphine. What's you take?

Eurosport started sending e-mails that they are discontinuing streaming (premium) service in favor of HBO MAX. Which is much, like 3x more expensive if you happen to watch only bicycling or some other sports and you don't care about other stuff. Even more odd is that they were sending e-mails like a couple of weeks ago that they were just increasing the price. So, that's it for me watching bicycling, I guess. It's been nice while it lasted, then corporate greed took over.
