Sheesh yeah i'm out. If this is what the federation has become then I want no part in it. It's not about me, it's about fascism.
The only reason I speak out is because if they're doing this to me they're no doubt doing this to a lot more people. I'd rather allow some record of it happening instead of just allowing bad actors a monopoly over the narrative. Journalists much prefer it when people speak out instead of just going silent in the face of oppression.

The idea was to get the jewish people out of germany. Sure they weren't as gung-ho about murdering them as the other factions in germany, forced displacement is still very much classified as genocide. And yes, zionism very much started as christian thing, that's why conflating zionism with judaism is by definition antisemitism; they're two completely different things.

Fair, I had a post removed a long time ago which I made a post about on here. I referred to it. They claim it was holocast inversion but all I said was that the zionists worked with the nazis to expel semites and that palestine is an extension of that, which is literally what happened. I made it very clear I wasn't referring to jewish people as anything other than a victim, but they didn't care. In their mind, zionism = jewish even though zionism was initially a Christian movement.
Important note to bring up: conflating zionism with Judaism is anti-semitism, but what do you expect from a german instance?
EDIT: my comment removal email shines light into exactly what they found umbrage in. The last one is especially revealing.

Disappointing, but not surprising. If you want to know why I quit the federation, this is why. The complete lack of accountability combined with abusive moderation is beyond toxic. No normal person is going to join a system like that. I have downloaded my archive but have zero desire to ever return to mastodon.

The idea of taking a complicated system and boiling it down to an essential value (or set of values) that describe everything is high-key fascism. Being on Lemmy has made me realize that not having to constantly deal with nazis on your instance kind of rocks and I want that same experience on the rest of the federation. I'm currently on mastodon.social and matrix.org and have had my problems with both but don't know where a good place to move would be. Help me find a better place to set up on the federation. This thread was spurred by https://lemmy.ml/post/13634062 but really it's been a problem i've been having for awhile now and would like to take preventative actions before liberalism starts to become hardcore nazified.
I've sent in my appeal and i'm sure the removal will be quickly reversed, it's still very extremely disturbing such a thing could happen.

I used to play in a lot of minecraft communities centered around modding. I would play pack after pack after pack all in multiplayer until the next one came. Eventually, I started to become dissatisfied with the lack of quality of some packs (so called 'kitchen sink' packs where people just dump in whatever mods they kind of like with no rhyme or reason) so I worked on my own 1.7.10 pack around a core theme. Before I could finish, I had to quit due to the place getting increasingly fascist, which left me basically orphaned. I worked on and off of it and about a year and a half later, the pack was in a more-or-less complete state. I had a few friends playtest it and found a lot of little issues which I later tackled with patches, and now it's matured to a point where I was ready to release a part 2. Only issue though, is that interest in the series has completely dropped off and nobody is really all that into playing anymore. So this is where you come in! This is the first *public* release of the pack. I'm hoping that I can get some people here to try it out and give feedback on how to make it even better. If even one person enjoys it to its end than I will consider all my effort over the years well worth it, but i'm hoping it can become the long-lasting pack it was created to be. Kind of like how you can do [in-line links](to link people to a website), allow the user to use the same syntax to create contextual information that appears when the [user mouses over](Similar to alt-text on an image). This way users who know the context won't have to slog through a tedious wall of text while those who don't can optionally bring themselves up to speed. For clarity sake in-line context will be a different color to a link, and those on mobile (or desktop) can click it to expand out the contained text as if it was part of the original comment. EDIT: it might be a good idea to potentially use different syntax so that you can link websites within in-line context.

As it stands right now, individual mods have way too much power to fuck up the platform by banning people for political reasons and the modlog is not even remotely adequate in providing a full story on such actions. This isn't too big of an issue now, but as certain instances have proven, it has the potential to become a federation-wide problem if it's allowed to continue. On reddit, the platform Lemmy was made to replace, removals are logged (r/undelete) so that any interested party may look into them, the users are warned of the action so that they know not to behave as such, and the affected parties can (in practice, most mods will just instantly mute you) have a chance to appeal. Here, your posting history is instantly wiped out with no chance of seeing the light of day, you're given a nebulous reason in the mod log, if any, and you have zero tools for correcting an erroneous action. You're just wiped out instantly with most of the people you've interacted with not even having knowledge that you're gone. There's also an issue where removing a comment which is rightfully due for removal (for example: dogwhistled bigotry) also removes any comments below it explaining why the original comment is bad. This leads to a situation where mods are either forced to either keep up the hateful rhetoric alongside its callout, or remove the comment while also wiping out the educating material. This is an example where I feel redacting could be an acceptable option to keep the community safe while also allowing bigots to face the music for their shitty views. The tools Lemmy provides to deal with evil on the platform are opaque and inadequate, and have high potential for being used in bad faith by bad actors seeking to destroy the platform itself, and have even caused friction among users in good faith in the past (as many warring instances, federating and defederating have shown) Ultimately a healthy federation comes from having moderation tools which protect the average person from being exposed to evil, while also giving a complete picture to those want to look into the why and how of a removal. And for the love of god, if an instance bans you, please don't require you dig your own grave by having to block each and every community from that instance manually, one by one.
