They also renamed a bunch of locations from Safeway > FreshMart and laid off career employees with years of raises and benefits and forced them to reapply under the new franchise name. Same owners, same stores, but LOOPHOLE.

Speaking personally, while I am here, my participation in Lemmy is lacklustre at best; same with Mastodon. I got burnt out from social media and the years from 2016 - 2024 have really ruined my enthusiasm. I think maybe a lot are in the same boat. Maybe we'll see more people come out of the "shields up, dark times overload" in a year or so... and maybe it will take longer.

The floppy is magnetic media and both the USB and SD Card are flash storage...
The reality is more like the USB told the Floppy to lose some weight, and then the USB went and lost weight itself, and then the Floppy just died of embarrassment.

Which seems crazy, because with the Delta Quadrant being as accessible as it is in STO, it seems like making contact with a Human colony of over 100k people would be a priority.
As the title says, I'm curious if they ever named or revisited this Human civilization in the later parts of the timeline in any way? It seems like too good of an opportunity to not revisit it at some point. My searches did not reveal any answer, so thought I'd ask my fellow trek nerds.

This is the most unfiltered article I've read from The Atlantic... by the time I finished the second paragraph I had to re-read the title to understand how I got here. Edit: To be clear, this has been revealed as satire, its just so close to reality one could be forgiven for confusing the two.

Is the darkspace theme something that comes packaged with Lemmy or something the server admins are throwing together? I love where it's going but its in need of some love.. there's nothing to make the posts readable against the background.
