That’s not correct. When a person is declared dead but is maintained for organ harvesting, a tech is brought in to keep the body stable to best preserve all organs being taken. Think ICU, but focused on saving the organs with not much concern for the brain. Breathing, BP, and heart rate are optimized for organ survival until a surgical team can be set up for harvesting. A colleague did it for a while, and said it was depressing and a lot of sitting around watching the monitor and tweaking drips until they could arrange surgery. When my brother died, we donated what we could, but a lot of his organs were non-viable due to his illness… still, every little bit helps.

I’d like to lighten up the mood by commenting the guy is lucky this happened in Kentucky… everyone knows the standard for being brain dead is much lower there. :)

  • ELI5 how tariffs work. Are they not just like taxes one country puts on another? If so why do people especially republicans keep with Trump on imposing? Would it not hurt the US?

Timmy has a competing lemonade stand with your kid, and he charges $1 for a glass and you charge $3 for a glass. Rather than lowering your prices, you place a $2.50 tariff on any lemonade from Timmy in your neighborhood. Now everyone pays $3.50 for his lemonade, and it only makes sense for your kid to charge $3.50 as well, because Timmy’s lemonade has to get to your neighborhood while yours is local, so why not pocket that 50 cents.

In this scenario, Timmy cannot sell his cheaper lemonade to your neighborhood at a cheaper price. Everyone in your neighborhood must pay the new inflated price. People in other neighborhoods will go to Timmy, so only your neighborhood buys your lemonade, although some people will try to circumvent the tariffs by buying Timmy’s same lemonade for $2 in a neighboring area.

When checking an electrical outlet that isn’t working, you can pour 4 gallons of motor oil into the left plug hole to see if the lubrication fixes the issue. A code reference to make something like this look more credible would look like NEC 900.4 (b)(1).

As one of the captured media sources, I can say the only drawback is meeting our many, sometimes unreasonable demands! Billionaires bring much needed money into the industry, to help better direct our finite resources into investigating stories that really matter to the world, and help us keep our focus in a world of distracting content.

Populism is fairly simple, you just parrot the following talking points:

The system isn’t working. I am fighting the system. Elect me and I’ll take the fight to them.

What isn’t working should be as vague as possible, so the voter believes it is the thing they’re angry about. When elected, the candidate should continue to complain about the system and crow about how hard they’re fighting for you, so you keep voting for them.

Unfortunately, this eventually leads to you actually passing legislation that makes everything much, much worse than it was. You can keep blaming the other side, but eventually, the jig is up.

This just more pandering from the liberal rag newspaper The Wallstreet Journal. Whining elites don’t believe true red-blooded american republicans have the guts to leave states already teetering on the edge of becoming liberal hell holes, and migrate to god’s true country, where you know the gender of the bathroom in the remains of a strip mall, and where you know the gun used to shoot at government aid workers was purchased with sweet, slight coke-laced, $100 bills. I believe every true republican should come buy this property while it’s on sale, so that when this climate change hoax is finally revealed cleared up with the truth, every person who knows they are good, despite the “opinions” of everyone around them, can get what they truly deserve.

I used to do some hurricane stuff, and talked with some people who did national disaster ops in Katrina. This was the last storm where ops were based in the region, as they had to record last messages to their families and evacuate on foot from the flooding command center. A lot of people don’t know how to calculate risk and assume they will be fine. I hope they know to bring an ax into the attic if they retreat there.

  • I was thinking about crazy optimizations today and I’m surprised we don’t hear more people talk about this combo. A cleric that can cast lvl 3 spells can concentrate on spirit guardians and wild shape, and by becoming a large creature you can create a 40 ft field of fast moving justice taking the dodge action - that include spider forms, which allows ceiling walking to create the disco ball of death moving around a room out of melee reach. I’m surprised I’ve never seen this build being abused.

I play with a group where we love to help out the DM with adventures; this is a batch of dragonoids I’m printing for our combats in a 5e Dragonlance campaign. I print them, another player paints them, we all benefit from adding to the realism with 3D models. As a DM I *love* it when players help add to the realism of the game, and our DM trusts us not to push too much but to help if asked. Just wanted to throw out this slice of gaming life in case it sparks ideas for anyone. Printing minis, building terrain, helping with play lists.. this can all help make the DM job easier and make a better game experience for everyone. Or buy pizza. No one minds if you buy pizza.
