Ofc I make sure to adapt the lessons and study plan to the student’s interests and pace. I try to incorporate Comprehensible Input as much as possible even though it’s very scarce to find input made for learners. I think language learning has to be fun, engaging and things need to make sense, and believe me Arabic makes a lot of sense unlike English. You can dm me from a throwaway account if you want. Let me know if you have any questions about Arabic or my approach to teaching. And dw about money, really! And if there is enough interest we can have group lessons as well... just let me know if you're interested and we can try to make it work ت --- Arabic is nowhere near as intimidating as you think, it actually has internal logic and consistency ::: spoiler I'm just gonna quote what @prolepylene said about his experience learning Arabic Learning languages is hard, but I find it very rewarding. My lessons are fun, the language itself makes sense in a way that allows me to infer meanings and uses I don't explicitly know, and it teaches me about English almost as much as Arabic. Arabic as a language makes a lot more sense than English. A big part of it is that Arabic isn’t a bastard language of Germanic and Romantic influences, though the history of the Arabic world has left it with many loan words from the west. The other big thing is MSA (Modern Standara Arabic), though not really spoken colloquially, is actively managed to make it universal and easy to learn. In my opinion, the script is the least intimidating part of the language. The [Arabic root system] is pretty great. At first I wasn’t sure how it was substantially different from the Latin root system, but comparatively to English the Arabic root system is everywhere throughout the language. As you learn the forms and patterns you can break down basically all verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs to a base form and a pattern that you can use to infer meaning.

Bury me in a wine press
wrapped in a shroud of grape vine.
I hope for God's sweet forgiveness—
tomorrow, after I drink up my wine.
This is attributed to Abū al-Hindī and it was found written on his grave

That Buck
By God tell that buck with the heavy buttocks
And a waist so small,
He is sweetest when he is ready,
And, when in ecstasy,
He is the most gorgeous of all.
He built a pigeon house,
And released a dove in the loft.
I wish I were one of his pigeons,
Or a falcon,
So he could do to me what he would love.
If he wore white linen,
The fabric would hurt or scratch him
Because he is so soft.

Do not drink fortune unmixed:
For unmixed drinks lead to demise!
Mix half with wine, half with water:
Then it will be all together
More scrumptious and for health better!

You nerds better read this great poem
O, you the oppressor, the unjust, lo! The darkness lover, the life-foe! You’ve belittled the pains of a weak people, And your palm is suffused with their gory hue. You’ve walked trampling on Existence’s charm, And on its tops, sowed thorns of sorrow. Slow down! Don’t be deceived by the spring, By the bright welkin and by the morn’s lights— In the horizons wide are the horrors of darkness, The thunderbolts, and the wind bites. Be wary! Under ashes lie embers; And who sows thorns reaps injuries. Brood! There, how ye harvested Mortals’ heads and hope’s flowerings; Watered dust with blood flowings, Forced it to sip tears till drunken. Will topple ye over the flood, the blood-flood, And will devour ye the fiery showering. - The Tunisian poet Abul-Qasim Al-Shaby

On Being Proposed to by a Male Poet
I am a lioness: never will I let
my being be the break
on another’s journey.
But if that were my choice
I would not answer
to a dog, for to O!
how many lions
am I deaf.

I Walk My Walk
By God I am fit for the highest of peaks
And I walk my walk and boast in pride.
I enable my lover to have my cheeks.
And if someone craves a kiss, I provide.
-Wallada bint al-Mustakfi
If you have to point out every fault in a friend, you’ll surely criticize everyone. --- Live with your brother or just live alone— sometimes he’s right, sometimes he’s wrong. --- You’ll go thirsty unless you drink a few specks— is anyone’s water always fresh? --- Who is it whose traits are entirely pleasing? It's enough dignity for a man that you don't lose count of their faults. ![](https://hexbear.net/pictrs/image/5e4d8611-3454-4a37-9008-abd892ebfbc0.jpeg)

It's not a literal translation, a more literal translation is "but a lover is intoxicated/drunk for life"

Arabic never had first person dual though.
Prof_mu3allim 9mo ago • 100%
Did you know that there is dual in Arabic? Dialects use it with nouns only, they don't conjugate verbs in the dual - the subject being dual is enough :)
To turn a word into dual you just add the suffix ـان -an (transliterated as aan), e.g. كتاب kitaab book and كتابان kitaabaan 2 books.
Do you know any singular Arabic words you can turn into dual?
