People are so distrustful of our government and institutions of power that they are looking for information elsewhere for better or for worse. The ordinary citizen is not to blame. They are being forced fed tailored information through legacy media, social media, and everything else and can't figure out what is true. This is the same for people from all sides of the political spectrum. Your frustrations should be focused on the powers who sow this misinformation into our reality for nefarious reasons.

I suggest enlarging your current NAS or building one and running something like Open Media Vault, Umbrel, CASA, etc.

For streaming, Kodi is the best value though it's via pirating. But is pirating such a bad thing when these companies steal your data and revoke movies that you purchased? With a debrid service costing $17 for 6mo you can stream basically anything with no slowdowns. Run Kodi via LibreElec on a RPi5.

I've been using this for a few months now with Organic Maps and it's incredibly good. A few versions ago I noticed some issues with certain letter sounds but with frequent updates it now sounds so natural.

I found "vits-piper-en_GB-southern_english_female-medium" to be the most natural sounding voice for English.

  • Normally when looking at an app on F-Droid you'll see the [multiple repos available to download](https://f-droid.org/packages/org.fossify.gallery/) it from all on the app's page. Whether it's Izzy, F-Droid, etc. Why does Organic Maps have two seperate app pages on F-Droid? One only lists the [F-Droid repo](https://f-droid.org/packages/app.organicmaps/) download and the other just for [Izzy](https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/app.organicmaps.web).

Hey everyone, I’m in need of help. I’m a long time landscape photographer on a hiatus. I’ve been looking into astrophotography and it is getting me really excited to get back at it while learning a new skill and enjoying a new aspect of photography. I’ve always enjoyed seeing the Milky Way and viewing the beautiful photos of nebula. I would like some help selecting a star tracker. I have a Canon 5D Mk3, TSE 24mm f/3.5L, 70-300mm f/4-5.6L, and a 300mm f/2.8L. With the 300mm mounted to the camera it weighs 9lb-1.6oz. I’ve got what seems like to me a pretty decent view from the roof of my house for photographing nebulas but also have a great spot less than a 10min walk from my house to get the Milky Way over the mountains. I’m thinking of getting either the [Sky-Watcher EQM-35](https://www.skywatcherusa.com/products/eqm-35-mount) or the [Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi](https://www.skywatcherusa.com/collections/star-adventurer-gti/products/star-adventurer-gti-mount-head-kit). I like the idea of having a portable battery powered star tracker (GTi) but it’s payload is 11lbs and my large lens with camera is 9lb-1.6oz which is pretty close to its max. Would that be okay or is it too heavy to work well? The EQM-35 has a 22lb payload but is far less portable, though I suppose I could hook it up to a portable lithium battery pack. Overall I think I would prefer the GTi for its portability and cheaper price but am worried about being so close to the weight capacity. Whatever suggestions you all provide please keep these constraints in mind. I use Linux and absolutely will _not_ install any apps on my phone for functionality unless they are FOSS with no trackers. I have found that the program [KStars](https://kstars.kde.org) can control cameras and mounts via the [protocol INDI](https://kstars.kde.org/indi/) as well as Sky-Watcher has a [SynScan hand controller accessory](https://www.skywatcherusa.com/collections/mount-accessories/products/v5-hand-controller). I appreciate any help given and am looking to go to a local Star Party to meet people but sadly am busy during the next one. Thanks!

I just changed from MinUI to [OnionOS](https://onionui.github.io/docs/emulators/arcade/default) on my Miyoo Mini+ to try more forms of emulation such as Arcade. I specifically want to play Bosconian. I got it running via the core "MAME 2003-Plus" using two different ROMsets, "[bosco](http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=bosco&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1)" and "[boscomd](http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=boscomd&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1)" from the Archive.org "MAME 2003-Plus Reference Full Non-Merged ROMsets" page. However, I'm having the same issue with both being "Warning: audo sample(s) not found". Did I happen to pick two bad ROMsets or is there some larger issue I'm having? Is this a common issue that people know how to fix?

I just recently learned about the website CalTopo and how you can create maps to print out. It's exciting to me because I can create maps based on UTM instead of Lat Long. I have been looking for a solution for a while and am glad to have found this. You can change the scale, the map type, overlays, and more. I had a local store print one on tear and water resistant paper too. Just wanted to share with the community.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a camera still being produced similar to the Canon G1X MkIII. I've been using a 5D MkIII for years but want something smaller for backpacking that still packs a great quality sensor, glass, and full featured manual mode with RAW format. It doesn't have to be Canon either. Thanks Edit: probably an APS-C size sensor or larger

I'm adding a business that is primarily for surfing and also has some skateboard accessories. Can I use multiple tags to designate this? "shop=surf;skate" Would that work? On the [OSM wiki it says under cuisine](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:cuisine) you can use multiple tags but I don't see anything saying if it's proper to do that with a key for shop.

I'm new to self hosting and just got CasaOS setup following up to part two of Tech DB's guide. The SMB works on my Linux computer, I can create documents, etc. However I'm having trouble accessing it on my Android phone. I'm using Material Files, Search for SMB shares, and find "CASAOS" but it's under a different IP address as the server. Then when I click on it, it prefills some of the lines such as "Hostname: CASAOS" and "Port: 445". I have added my login info as either my CasaOS login and SSH login but both don't work and I've changed the port to 80 as that's CasaOS default but every combination I try fails with "java8... UnknownHostConnection... _and more_" Any ideas?

I setup a Dell Inspiron 2-in-1 for my Dad with Fedora 40 Kinoite. He wants a basic stylus but I don't know anything about them. All the info I can find on the product page is saying that you can use an "active pen." What am I looking for in a stylus to let me know if it'll work? The Dell and Wacom stylus' say they're for Windows. Do these stylus' need software to work and thus be stuck only working on Windows? Do they actually work on a firmware level? If you know of any that work I'm down for suggestions too.

Hey everyone, I wanted to give my feedback with Linux on a new CoPilot laptop. I just got a new generation Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 Touch laptop (Model: i7445-7326BLU-PUS, SKU: 6576720). It has the new AMD 8840HS and is a new Windows CoPilot branded laptop (with key unfortunately). I tried booting and logging into Windows once for the heck of it and here's what happened. It wouldn't let me log in without joining an internet network first. So I successfully give it my guest network credentials. It said connected and secured. Then I hit next, next, etc. and it restarts and then would update, still prior to me being able to login. However it restarts and says oops the internet had an issue and please reconnect WiFi. It sends me back to the WiFi credential page to login again but it auto connects as my credentials were correct. So I hit next and it gives me the same problem again. I then say screw it and proceed to install Linux. I proceed to install Fedora Kinoite 40 via USB and have absolutely zero issues. It works flawlessly with every feature including the fingerprint scanner and when flipping the laptop keyboard over into tablet mode it even auto disables the keyboard and touchpad but leaves the touchscreen working! The only thing that doesn't seem to work is the CoPilot key. When pressed it doesn't do anything. I tried assigning it as a shortcut key for Konsole where it registers as "Meta" and gets created as "Shift+Meta" but it doesn't actually work still. I didn't change a single thing in BIOS, Secure Boot is still enabled, and I don't see any code displayed during boot or shutdown. Besides the CoPilot key being useless I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out and proved to be better than Windows yet again. Edit: I played around some more with the CoPilot key. Like I said the shortcuts default to "Shift+Meta" if only pressing the CoPilot (Meta) key. That won't launch anything. However if you add another key into the mix it will work. I created "Shift+K+Meta" to launch Kcalc and it worked, kinda. I may have to either press the combo multiple times or press and hold it for a few milliseconds longer than a normal key press and then it launches the program, but not once, it opens Kcalc multiple times all at once and the amount of times it opens seems random.

I'm relatively new to Fedora and Plasma and trying to understand it better. I see in the wallpaper selection that some of them have what looks to be a light and dark version. I'm using Kinoite and have one of these wallpapers chosen but do not ever see it change. Is this a bug? Should it change? On a similar but different note I swear I saw it change on Bazzite with Plasma when I tried that at someone's house.

I have no background or knowledge on this. I would like to make an app for performance engine building that has various pages with various formulas, unit conversions, tool lists, etc. What program do I use to make an app? I've seen Surge, Bevy, and Godot but those seem to be for games. Edit: ~~Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. Unfortunately I can only see the responses left on my post, not replys to top level responses. I think this is an instance problem and I'm trying to find out because I would love to see everyone's comments.~~ All is working now

I'm looking for an article I either read or heard about during a podcast fairly recently. It stated someone's kid on vacation visited home, used their parents car, connected their phone to the infotainment system, and since it had access to their phone's data was able to see who the kid was and increased the parents car insurance policy as their kid was driving their car. I've tried searching the internet for key words unsuccessfully. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about and can provide a link?
